Blogging on the Road

The camera on the iPhone leaves much to be desired but with the help of the right photo app a picture can be good enough to be uploaded and posted to a blog post.

Time spent in a car on a long road trip can be put to good use when you have an iPhone.

It rained part of the way on Highway 99 and the clouds looked beautiful. With the iPhone camera, a photo app, a blogging app and a 3g connection, the picture of the rain clouds is now a blog post.

I love my IPhone! But I still want an iPad! ;-)

Reopened!

This blog is back! And a new template to go with the reopening!

I have decided to reopen this blog and start blogging on it again. As if I don't already have enough blogs to maintain! mrgreen

Recent "events" have made it worthwhile to continue maintaining and updating this blog so you will see occasional updates here. The registration for the custom domain name for this blog has not expired and the reopening of this blog has made it all the more reason to continue paying for the domain name.

I am not sure if there is going to be a main focus for this blog ... maybe on the more techy gadgety stuff, not that I am tech savvy, but who knows ... I do love gadgets, afterall!

I welcome your visits and comments on this blog. wink

This blog will remain as is, till such time I see fit to delete it. Thank you for visiting this blog.

My Blog Visitors

Ever since I installed the Feedjit widget in all my blogs, I have been able to tell who my most recent visitors were and how they came to arrive at my blogs.

Of course some of my visitors are my regular readers so I don't have to wonder who they are and why they are visiting!

Those that arrive on my blogs through search engines, now those are interesting! You can click on the search engine link and see what they were searching for when they found a post in that particular blog that they thought had something to do with their search.

I started a new blog called A Mommy Blogger and it is going to focus mainly on parenting issues, and my first post was a commentary on the Parkland High School cell phone sex scandal. Did you read that news story?

Anyway, I had installed Feedjit on that blog too, and after I published my first post, I went to update another blog. After that I went back to my new blog and imagine my surprise when I saw within that few minutes that first post had generated a few visitors!

Guess how they arrived at that blog?

Their search words were parkland, girls, nude, pictures .... haha, and when I clicked on the search link, guess what blog came on top of the search results?

If they had come hoping to see nude pictures of school girls on my blog, they must have been sorely disappointed! Haha. After a few hours my blog was no longer at the top of the search results that had the same search words. Guess that was my 15 minutes of fame on google search!

I like to write commentaries on news I'd read and I've had visitors drop by my blogs via links at CNN. Wished the trackbacks at CNN had brought a deluge of visitors! Oh well, a few are better than no visitors, right? lol

Sometimes I get a thrill when visitors arrive from google search on some old posts in my blogs. At least I know my previous postings are appearing in search engine results and visitors from different parts of the world are dropping by at my blogs!

Do you get thrilled to see the different visitors drop by at your blogs? I guess I am easily thrilled! mrgreen

Notice something wrong?

I don't know what the problem is with this blog template. Look at the earlier posts, and this post. There is a blank space to the right of the first paragraph. I don't know what is causing this. However, if there is a picture at the top, there is no such problem. The blog was showing correctly when those poss written and published but a few days ago I began noticing the blank spaces.

I really like this template. It is clean looking and very feminine. I would hate to have to replace this template if the problem does not resolve by itself. Everything looks fine on the edit page. If what it takes to solve this problem is a picture at the beginning of the post, then maybe that is what I may have to do, for now, that is.

Update: I don't know how to resolve the problem with the template, so I have decided to replace the template with what you see now.

Make Money Blogging

I have a friend who works part-time. The rest of the time she is at home with not much to do except maybe do some cooking and housework. She doesn't drive herself any where because she is visually impaired.

I have been trying to get her to start blogging and try to make some money through blogging. She was quite incredulous when I told her that you can really make some money blogging. She wasn't aware that there is money to be made through blogging. Not that I am a good advertisement about how much you can make!

I was impressed that a fellow Malaysian and a fellow Postie is making a handsome income through writing paid posts, writing reviews and placing ads on her various blogs. Of course she can command a lot more from advertisers, than a little blogger like me can, because she has blogs that have high Google PageRanks and high enough Alexa rankings.

Anyway, the point is, once you have a created a blog and has it up and running, you can begin to start earning some money. Of course you can't expect to immediately make those big bucks but with time and effort, you can. Creative and attractive content will bring in readers and once you have established yourself in the blogosphere you will start making the money.

There are many blogs out there who offer you the tools and tips to help you get started. It is always good to learn from those who have the experience and the pocket book to show their success!

To my friend, yes you who live in Florida, get started with that blog! :-)

Moving Things Around

Ok, I have decided to move things around a little bit. This is the third Puteri's Musings. One is on Blog*Spot, one on its own domain but located in a sub-directory which isn't the best of places, and this one on blogger platform but with its own custom domain.

All my blogs have been crawled and indexed by google except for the one located in the sub-directory of a hosted domain. Google is having trouble locating the files on puterismusings.com/weblog! That is pretty frustrating! I cannot put that blog on the top level domain because there is already one Wordpress installation on the top level domain. I did not want the first blog to be connected with Puteri's Musings 2 and that is why the second Wordpress was installed in a sub-directory. In that position, my google page ranking for Puteri's Musings 2 will never go beyond 1 or beyond low.

I don't think I can find a better solution for the problem other than start another blog without having to pay for additional hosting. Registering a domain name and having it point to my Blog*Spot account is the cheapest way to go about it. Now that I know how to go about using a custom domain for Blog*Spot from my other blog's experience, Health and Beauty Notes, due to the excellent tutorial by instabloke.com, I decided to just go with the custom domain for Puteri's Musings 3. The only downside with Blog*Spot is that when it goes on maintenance, there's not much you can do but wait around for it to come back online. The good thing is that the down time is usually not very long and bloggers are usually warned in advance.

So far this blogger hosted blog is working for me.
